Kilchoman 13YO Release 2025 50%
Kilchoman is a craft distillery founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills and Kathy Wills, located in the parish of Kilchoman, one of the most fertile areas on the island of Islay, in Scotland. It is the only farm distillery on the island and was also the first new distillery built on Islay after 124 years, following the opening of Bunnahabhain in 1883. In 2025, Kilchoman celebrates its 20th anniversary. The first cask was filled in December 2005, while the first single malt, the “Inaugural Release”, was launched in 2009.
The Kilchoman 13 Years Old 2025 Release is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky, aged for at least 13 years in a mix of ex-bourbon barrels (70%), ex-bourbon octaves (100-litre casks, 20%) and ex-calvados casks (10%). This whisky was finally bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and with its natural colour.
Nose: elegant peat, lemon and orange zest, vanilla, honey and sweet malt, with light notes of apple, biscuit and sea breeze.
Palate: rich and rounded, with enveloping peat smoke, ripe citrus, caramel and vanilla, followed by sweet malt, yellow fruits and delicate spices.
Finish: long and warm, smoky yet balanced, with returning citrus notes, honey, pepper and a light saline touch.
